West Texas EBC Cooperative

 HISTORY

In 2004, it started with an idea from the Executive Director of Region 17, Dr. Kyle Wargo. The philosophy behind the Region 17 Employee Benefits Cooperative was to create a comprehensive benefits package with affordable rates that could be offered to the smaller school districts within Region 17. With the foundation in place, Meadow ISD, Wilson ISD, Sands CISD and Whitharral ISD each agreed to start a pilot Coop program. In 2005, news of this Cooperative began to spread to other regions and school districts from Region 16 started to join the Coop. In 2006, the Region 17 Employee Benefits Cooperative changed its name to the West Texas Public Schools Employee Benefits Cooperative or better known as WTXEBC. Because of its rich history and tremendous success, the West Texas Public Schools EBC now proudly provides competitive benefits with exceptional rates to over 130 school districts in Regions 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.
